Trying to take in the moment, Tails closed his eyes and concentrated on every feeling; the coordinated rhythm of their arms and legs as they swayed together to the soft music, the soft night breeze whistling past his ears. He felt Wave's heart pounding in her chest and her strong hands around his, somehow unbreakable yet incredibly gentle at the same time.
"Savoring the moment?" he heard Wave say with a hint of laughter in that melodious voice of hers. He merely smiled from ear to pointed ear in return and squeezed her for a second, trying not to think too much about what lay just above or below his hands covered in silky-soft royal purple feathers and a thin strip of satin. It was so darn hard to be a gentlefox when your girlfriend was so hot she had to wear fireproof underwear.
Then the pair danced in silence again, hopes silently building in their hearts for countless more nights just like this together...and wishing that this night would never end. Especially Tails. For the velvet box hidden in the satchel he'd left on the bench nearby seemed to somehow be screaming its very existence to the universe, and maintaining a calm facade to the one who knew him inside and out was getting excruciatingly harder by the minute.
